Continuity Planning and Emergency Procedures
The reality
of terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow and governments
around the world openly saying that further attacks cannot
be ruled out also that global warming is a significant threat
to the security of each country it must make sense to factor
measures into your companies forward planning that will limit
the impact of such events on future business development.
AEGIS Associates
have worked closely with both the Scottish Ambulance Service
and the Hereford and Worcester Ambulance Service NHS Trust
in respect of planning for the health and safety of their employees,
we are also heavily involved with Kenyon International Emergency
Services who are working with Local Authorities in the UK to
assist them to cope with emergency scenarios.
UK health and safety law
requires all employers to have an emergency plan in place for
the safety of their employees and we at AEGIS Associates are
able to help your organisation to comply with this requirement
by working with you to not only to plan for the protection
of your employees but also by prudent business continuity planning
to minimise the possible financial implications of an emergency
on your company.
The
first health and safety team into Thailand
AEGIS Associates
are the retained health and safety advisers to Kenyon International
Emergency Services who had been contracted by the Australian
Federal Police to provide temporary mortuary backup services
at Taukua Pa and Krabi, Kenyon also constructed a purpose built
International Repatriation Centre close to Phuket airport.
Kenyon First
Responders went into Thailand on the 27th December and we received
a request to assist on site on 6th January, the main concern
of Kenyon Managers was that the Thai Authorities were using
chemical sprays to deal with flies, mosquitoes and smells and
no-one knew what chemicals were being used particularly as
some had been donated by countries such as China and deciphering
container labels was quite a challenge.
However within
a week of arriving on site we had managed to locate the suppliers
of 95% of the chemicals being used and obtained safety data
sheets in English from which we could provide advice on the
PPE that was necessary.
We also provided
general safety advice for Kenyon employees on both sites, it
was a challenging task but good to have been able to assist
Kenyon personnel return home free from injury or disease.
